Region V Represents in Campus Pride’s “Top 25″ LGBT-friendly Colleges and Universities

On August 20th, Campus Pride announced the 2013 list of the top 25 LGBT friendly colleges and universities via the Campus Pride Index. Campus Pride is a national recognized organization that works towards making colleges and universities a safe and inclusive space for individuals on the GLBT Spectrum.

This year we had five institutions make the top 25 list! These institutions are (listed in alphabetical order):

1)      Portland State University – Portland, OR

2)      Southern Oregon University – Ashland, OR

3)      University of Oregon – Eugene, OR

4)      University of Washington – Seattle, WA

5)      Washington State University – Pullman, WA

To have so many institutions from Region V on this list is a testament to the work that these universities are doing to support their LGBT students, staff, and faculty on their campuses. If you have colleagues at these institutions, please feel free to congratulate them on this accomplishment! In fact, please take a moment and congratulate the Region V Co-LGBT Representative Dr. Heidi Stanton-Schnebly, who is the Director of the Gender Identity/Expression and Sexual Orientation Resource Center at Washington State University!

Campus Pride has been a long time supporter of our Power of One Conference.  To check out the full review or learn more about their work, please visit http://www.campusclimateindex.org/.
